John Hood

John is an eclectic artist and craftsman from a family deeply rooted in jewellery art and the jewellery business.  His father, a local jeweller, taught his boys stone cutting in the 1950s and 1960s.  John took up stone cutting again after retiring from teaching.  He taught himself silver jewellery making , both assembly style and casting.  His work has been recognized several time locally and internationally.

Some of John’s other interests include scratch-built ship modelling, clock design and construction and live steam design.

He is well known in the metal arts, lapidary and music community provincially. He is a member of the Metal Arts Guild of Nova Scotia, the South Shore Ship Modellers Guild, and the Yarmouth Craft Guild.
